Removing Network

I got a great deal on a laptop for my kids...the lady i got it off of needed money anyways, i know absolutely nothing about networking. how do i safely remove all vestiges of her networking? It really needs to be reformatted but I won't have time for awhile, plus reformatting still terrifies me
it's a Dell Insipron 700m xp pro service pack2, anything you might need to know to help this little idiot out just ask

You don't have to remove it, just click on Networks than click on Disable.....this will turn it off....if she had it Networked before you bought it, should be the same way,, just click remove. Do this all from CP/Internet Options.
