Newbie - USB Router killing me
Hello everybody,
I am a newbie hoping to get this question answered and would be really grateful if you could help me out. I have a DSL connection coming through a USB modem into Computer A. How can I set up computer A to share the internet to 2 other computers(B and C) through a D-Link(DI-524) router? I cannot connect the router directly to the modem as it does not have a DSL port. I am stumped on this one. Can anyone help me out? Comp A and B are running running XP. Comp C is running Windows 2000. DSL USB---->Comp A ---> Router ----> Comp B and Comp C Thanks you. Sincerely, A Last edited by ace777; 08-04-2005 at 05:51 AM. Reason: Formating was screwed. |

Greetings ace777 and welcome to the board
![]() Who's the manufacturer of your USB modem? The first thing that came to mind for me was a USB to Ethernet converter which may do the trick for connectivity between your modem and router. Here's a link to what I'm talking about: Click Hope this helps ![]() ~Peace DC

Easiest way is to plug the USB modem into Comp A get that all set up and connecting to the internet. Then run the Internet Connection Sharing Wizard (This can be found in My Network Places under "Setup a home or Small Office Network"), set it to share the internet through that pc. Then connect Comp A, B and C to the Router, run the Internet Connection Sharing Wizard on B and C and set it to share the internet connection on A. And there u go!
