You shouldn't have to worry about dns if it is setup for dhcp, anyway to check to see what the dns settings are is right click my network places, then click on properties. A box will pop up then click on Internet Protocol(tcp/IP) to highlight it then click on properties, then another box will pop up, then make sure both obtain ip address automatically and obtain dns server address automatically are both selected then click ok on all three boxes and it may ask to restart, if it does then let it reboot, and if the problem lies in the dns settings hopefully thisd will take care of it.

No luck
Both of them (comps) already had both of the options selcted However I did notice THat when I go into properties on Network connections a box comes up and there appear to be 4 options of Network or internet. It Says NEtwork connections at the top of the box. On the comp that works in the box it says this "DIAL UP (Strange I dont have dial up) 1)England ppo3 etc. (says disconnected) 2) Dial up connection (says disconected) LAN OR High speed internet 3) 1394 connection (says connected) 4)Local area connection (says connected also says 'Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC')" ON THE OTHER COMP THE ONE THAT INTERNET DOESNT WORK: "Broadband 1) Broadband connection (says disconnected also says WAN miniport (PPPOE) Lan or High speed internet 1) Local area connection (says enable, firewalled also says NETGEAR FA311 Fast ethernet adapter) 2) 1394 connection (says enabled also says 1394 net adapter)" thats it ... i think this could be the root of my problems please have a good look at this ask if you want any more info screen shots of the box if neccesary are these stats conflicting perhaps??? does firewalled do anything??? thanks for your time plz help!!! *edit by greffov: I lowercased your text. have you switched the cables once just for a try? Maybe your cable is damaged. Does it go near devices like a TV? there can be a lot of noise on the cable perhaps.
