Blueyonder Internet and my router (Problems)
Hey people
You guys have always been great help so here i go... I have a pc connected to the internet via my motorolla surfboard modem (all works well) so now i want to connect my Apple Ibook to the internet. so i bought myself a router - standard 4 port one - i connect my cable modem (motorolla) to the wan input (via a crossover cable) and my pc to the 1st pc input on my router (standard network cable) I can see my router - i have told it that i get assigned an ip address when i access the net. I went through the troble with mac addresses but now found out that now with blueyonder you do not need to register them!! Anyway i still cant access the internet (i can see my router via 192.168.1.1 etc) Please help me Thanks alot |

Cirga is the router wizard around here.
Basically we need a little more info. What kind of router?? Do you have the correct type of connection in the main router setup (ppoe vs other)?? you would probably not be using ppoe. Can the computers connected to the router see each other ??? (after setting up each computer to share) after getting everything set up.... Turn EVERYTYHING OFF (unplut/off button) then turn on in sequence modem-router-puters. Give us a little more specific details about what you have tried and where the problem appears to be. When you plug your computer back into the modem (bypassing the router) does everything connect ok??

oh yea, one more thing, take a look at the configuration page of your cable modem, does it have the DCHP server enabled (if it has one)

...and make sure you have it set to "see" the proper number of computers. (pick 5 to start with... you can always drop it to 2 later on after you get everything up and running)
