Might go Wireless

Well i have been thinking about it, and i noticed the price has dropped since i last looked. I am looking at a 3COM 802.11g with free Wireless PC CARD 54mbps. Its £90. Any other recommendations for a better router around and below £100?

Anyway, i have a few questions.

I currently run a wired LAN with 2 desktops, and 1 Laptop connected to it. I am hoping to make the Laptop wireless so i can have internet without any ugly yellow cables I just want to check that i can use wired and wireless on the same router. I know the router has a 4 port switch, but i just wanted to check with you clever little techy's

I also have a question about how easy it is to set up security, so like next door cant steal signal?

Thank you.

Sure ya can. You will still only have so a certain amount of open "lanes" coming from your router, but you should have no problem running both wired and wireless from the same router. Personally I would get the same brand pci card and router, but it is possible to mix brands. I've only used Linksys and US Robotics. Linksys did seem to be more user friendly, but the US Robotics one I currently use is still very good.

Here are a couple of links to start you off of.
These should help you in your quest, they give some background info on wireless networking.

It is easy to setup your network so people cant steal your signal. The D-link model I have uses 128 bt encryption. I would recomend using 256. In downtown Vancouver I can take my laptop and walk through the yuppie area, like yale town and cole harbour and get free internet because people dont bother/dont care to encrypt their network.
