Hi Guys,

I brought myself a second hand laptop. I now have to transfer data from my desktop to laptop. The OS on laptop and desktop are Win98 and Windows NT (updated till service pack 5). I also have a cross connector cable. Please give me the detailed procedure as to how do this data transfer.

Thanking all of u for ur time.

Sincerly,
Drugey.

greffov will become famous soon enough
make sure both computers have "client for microsoft networks" and "file and printer sharing for microsoft networks" installed.

Once you got that, make sure they are both in the same workgroup (ie. WORKGROUP).

Share some folder on your w98 laptop with full permissions, then try to browse to it from your WinNT4 machine. It should see it in the network places.

Then copy your files into the shared folder from your NT4 machine into your w98 machine.

Connection from your w98 machine to your NT4 machine is probably an endless trouble story, so first try it this way.
