so what did I learn?
that D-link routers are AWSOME IF you can get them to work. they are just really difficult, and I mean REALLY difficult. Ip's are frusterating things to set up but in the end it was worth. Wireless networks are pretty cool, but if you are a newbie like me, be prepared to spend a few hours agonising over them...

Hmmmm... That looks a tad like mine does. Or did, rather. I had myself a nice little setup with a permanently on server and a workstation and a dock for my laptop and all connected through a nice Belkin KVMA switch. Oh, and the laser printer and colour printer and scanner and wireless router (to feed the PC in the lounge, my other laptop and the PocketPC (when it worked))

I wish I'd taken a piccy of it now.

Now I'm in a new house with a new woman. She has three kids, and they all got a room each. I'm now relegated to a teensy corner of the bedroom, with barely enough room for a laptop, never mind a big bugger server AND a workstation AND the whopper monitor. But never mind, at least I've got an excuse to buy a nice shiny new monster TFT screen from the profit I'll make from selling the old house

But I bet the cables will still tangle themselves up, no matter how hard I nail them down.

I did try to do that, Cirga... unfortunately the boy was already told by his grandmother that he was getting his own room.

Still, I do have a nice big TFT screen on my puter now. And I've found a home for the server (or at least bits of it) in the shape of a PC for someone else.

All I need now is some time to play with the damn thing!
