HELP with new ADSL router/modem
Hi, just got a Dynalink ADSL Router/Modem. Want to ask some advice please, as the two manuals that came with the modem have conflicting instructions. One says 'never connect the adsl router through a microfilter'. The other says to use either the microfilter, or direct connect to the jack point. Which option should I use, please? Also, should we connect using the ethernet port or the usb port?

not sure about the micro filters, i always thought they were to plug the phone into to screen out the modem signal, but i can say this for a fact, you would be much better off connecting the modem using the RJ45 ethernet port, as its a lot faster than usb and a lot easyer to configure.
and btw welcome to the site

Welcome
![]() Definately go for the ethernet port - ALOT less hastle than USB in my experience and as for microfilters as far as i know u do have to use them to separate the two signals else the router wont work! Plug in the filter to the phone line then the router to the filter and turn it on if you get a light showing line sync (usually labelled "sync") then its all workin - just configure it and away you go. If you dont get this light try it without the filter. No harm will come to the router in doin either of these and if neither work best thing would be to consult the manufacturer - gud luck and let us know how you get on

When you get a router nowadays its more or less plug and play. Hopefully you dont have too much of a hassle setting it all up.
I agree with Ripp and pasty.. Ethernet port is a must And welcome!
