Unhappy Norton Firewall, messing wid me Network!

HI everyone, i hope sumbody can help me out here.

I just linked my two machines, the specs are as follow:

comp1=2.2 ghz celeron, 256 pc 333 ram, win xp home edition, , geforce 4 mx 440 64megs.

comp2=852mhz athlon, 320 sdram 133mhz, win xp home edition, tnt2 ultra 16 meg vid card.

My cable connection, goes into a usb port in comp 1, and then a network card runs from comp1 to comp 2 which has connected the internet to both machines, this works as does file sharing on both pcs.

However i have norton firewall on comp 1, which is the server pc. My multiplayer games like cs and other hl mods and things like sof2 and generals work on the comp1, however, on comp 2, they cannot pick up a server list. If i disable the firewall on comp1, suddenly comp2 can play all multiplayer games perfectly, how do i change this so i do not have to disable the firewall, every time, thx all!

you basically have to go into the settings..

I remember having the same problem. In the settings for Norton, there should be something to allow norton to monitor network connections, i think this needs to be enabled for your computers to be able to talk with each other. Just wish i could remember exactly where it is in the settings so i could let you know.

You will still be able to get on the lan and do anything you want to do the trouble comes in when you acess the net. When you are on the lan your second pc does not have to go throught the firewall when you go to the net you have to go thrgouh the firewall which is not a problem the problem comes in when the traffic has to get back to your Pc. I don't know norton firewall but i am sure it is like any other firewall. You have to go into the settings and make sure that the second Pc's ip address is allowed to get traffic from the net.
