Newbie and need info

I'm completely illiterate when it comes to the inner workings of my computer, so I'm hoping someone here can help me. My Hewlett Packard had to have both motherboard and hard drive replaced when it was seven months old. Now, just over a year later, I'm getting disk boot failures and random crashes. Could the motherboard they replaced have anything to do with this? I've been suspecting the hard drive, but pc doctor 'says' my hard drive is fine. Ran the tests for the motherboard and it passed also, but the combination 'crash' I had first time out has me wondering if the motherboard might be involved again.

Been there done that..I was gone 7 months while HP fixed my system...replace Motherboard 4 times before they finally gutted system & replaced everything.
If HP fixed it before & it's around a year, you still might be under warranty...use it if you got it....or do what I did & pay $250 flat fee to fix it...than you get a year warranty on that repair.

Warranty has expired - first time I didn't get the extended, it figures! $250 is half of what I paid for this package after rebates. Never again. I filed a complaint with our state Consumer Affairs office. Got a letter a few days ago saying they had contacted HP and they have 60 days to reply. Let's see what happens. In the meantime, I'm trying to find out anything that might help my case so I don't sound total illiterate on the subject.

I understand..my got power surge through Cable Ethernet.....after 4 Motherboards..I had a system but Monitor kept giving me problems..it would Flash..even with New Monitor...finally a Tech called me himself & I explained what it was doing..he couldn't make it happen, but after 5 returns..he gutted it....now it's fine.
My Warranty was expired, and was still paying for system on Credit Card..so $250 was worth it to me...as HP wouldn't sell local Computer Shop the parts anyway....

Just got an e-mail regarding a previous try I made to get HPs repair center to take some responsibility here. What a joke that was. Repairs are warranted for 90 days - can you believe that. I wrote back telling them they must be using inferior parts because my old Packard Bell is still running with a motherboard and hard drive that's over three years old (too small but still running). Seems they are using parts designed to wear out fast.
