MotherBoard
I'm looking to try to build my own PC. I my case is an DreamerII Aspire X-Dreamer II (Silver) ATX Mid-Tower Case w/ 350W Power Supply,Model ATXB4KLW-AL/350W
Specifications: Form Factor: ATX Color: Silver Material: Metal Drive Bays: 4x5.25"/ 2x3.5"/ 4x3.5"Hidden Expansion Slots: 7 Front Ports: 2 USB+Audio(Microphone Jack & Earphone Jack) Power Supply: ATX 350 P4 Power Supply(Horizontal) w/ I/O Switch Cooling System: 2 x 80mm Illuminated Motherboard Compatibility: ATX/ BABY AT Dimensions: 440x200x430mm (I'm going to decide on all the other hardware once I decide on a motherboard) Look good? Is 350watts good enough? My main question is: Intel or Athlon. I know that that limits the processor I buy but what else does it limit? I would also like some reccomendations on what mobo I should buy. ( I plan to buy it from newegg.com) Thanks for takeing time to help a n00b out. deepblue |

Well first off.. I would suggest getting a better PSU. Remember that quality will out do any amount of wattage power. So go with something like the Enermax 350W + . You can purchase those from newegg.com.
Also.. as for motherboard suggestions.. its hard to give you a recommendation without knowing what processor you want to get. Do you do more computer games.. or is your PC going to be used for application work? If you are a gamer.. I would suggest going with one of the Athlon XP Barton core chips. If you are going to run applications only.. better to go with a P4 chip. Once you mention which chip you are lookin to get I can suggest a few motherboards

I've heard that Athalon processors is cheaper than Pentum for the same features, but is Athalon as compadable a Pentum (and the same question for the motherboard)? I'm not a big gamer so the computer will mostly be used for applications, but I'm not saying that I won't play the occasional game. Thanks for your help.
