I was called to a friend that needed a new power supply install it was burnt for an unknown reason. So i put the new ps in and upon start up no drives are detected and the bios says the mobo battery is low and incorrect bios memory size i cleared the bios same results when i turn it on i dont feel the HD boot at all and the cd rom light will flash only sometimes when i hit the button but will not eject i tryed swapping around power connectors no luck this computer used to be mine i built it.
Does it sound like the victom of a power surge? k7s5a 1000mhz TB 300w ps geforce 2 256mb pc133 ram 80 gig HD |

thats the 1st thing to do, and as the psu blew, it maybe a good idea to remove the hard drives and cd rom and test them in another pc (with different ide cables), so you can be sure the drives didnt fry at the same time as the power supply. if everything is ok with the drives try out the new psu in another pc as well.
if everything else works ok, chances are when the psu blew the surge took out the ide controler on the motherboad as well. this may sound the most expensive to replace, but the ecs k7s5a isnt that high a spec board these days, so an equivelent replacement shouldnt cost you more than $30-40.
