YOU AIN'T GONNA BELIEVE THIS ONE! I noticed on some of my bluescreens that right afterwards it said something about "easy cd creator" , So I uninstalled it (I had easy cd/dvd 6 installed) and BINGO! I have not had a bluescreen in DAYS!!! It is hard to believe that a program could mess up my computer like that, but it seems to be what it was!

glad to see you are ok now, but just making sure, you should run the dual channel ram in the BLUE slots. that will take advantage of the dual channel. so if you dont have it that way, do so

Well I found another reason why I could have been getting those bluescreens. I had to physically take out my memory and exchange it at the place I bought it from for two other sticks of Samsung brand (I had kingston brand) 512 MB (each) 333mhz. That seems to have corrected this problem entirely. It has been MONTHS and not another bluescreen! It just seems that this motherboard is VERY PICKY about the kind of memory you use. I was told by the guy at the store I exchanged mine at, that some people who had that model of motherboard (Asus A7N8X Deluxe) had to come back and exchange it two or three TIMES before they ever got their MB stable. But it seems that when you do finally get the right two sticks of memory (exact size and brand) that you don't have any more problems....even when you use dual channel. Mine is going fantastic. Hope this helps.

Correction: acording to the asus manual there are three ways you can run this board with dual channel memory: 1. use the two bottom blue slots (as you suggested) 2. use the top and bottom slot. (this also gives dual channel) 3. use all three slots (with the exact same size and brand) You need to have the exact size and brand for dual channel to work in any option I mentioned above. You cannot have a kingston 512 mb 333mhz in one channel and a kingston 256mb 333mhz in the other. It just won't work for dual channel. Good luck with your new board.

Are you sure that is correct? I have heard that you COULD NOT run in dual channel mode UNLESS it was the same size and model. Including all three slots. Are you sure you are in dual channel mode??

Absolutely. In fact, if you use the three memory slots you must use this configuration to take full advantage of dual channel. Slot 1 & 3 work as a single DIMM working in parallel with slot 2; thus both slots 1 & 3 should have the same memory size and configuration (number of chips per DIMM) and slot 3 should be the same size as slot 1 plus slot 3.

So since I have two 512 mb sticks (1 gig total) I would neeed an extra 1 gig stick to go in slot 2??? Does it need to be the same brand and mhz?? (mine is 2- samsung 512 333mhz sticks)
Then if that is all correct: I would need to place my two samsung 512 sticks in slot 1 and 3 (top and bottom slots?) and a samsung 1 gig stick (333mhz) in slot 2 (middle slot??) That would be cool, to have more memory! I could have a total of 2 gig 333mhz running in dual channel If I did it that way.

Well I already am running 1 gig in dual channel mode, but I thought there might be some advantage to having more RAM. But if not, I will just use what I have. Thanks!

Last weekend I went from 512 MB to 1 GB (both in dual channel configuration). I tested with 3D Mark 2003 to see if there was any improvement there and I went from 4937 to 5080. This can hardly be called an improvement
. However I often load several large pictures in Photoshop Elements and here I can see the benefit.
