How to IDENTIFY a Motherboard. Where to go to get help
Ok, I have had several people PM me asking about old motherboard identification (and in fact I had to actually try to figure out an old board myself recently), so I did some searching and found a great place where you can get help and information.
http://www.motherboards.org/ You need to register to use their tools, but they do have some nice apps that will help you identify your motherboard and bios information. They also have a great forum with lots of help.

Speaking of motherboards. I wonder how does one install a new mb and chipset? I'd like to replace mine. I'm soliciting any advice in choices of upgrate as well.
I'm gleening info from reading online and I'm itching to make some upgrades. Can i just choose a new mb w. a chip on it and put it into my existing tower then install my modem, D-Link, and audio card?

I have not had that work in a long time. I usually just backup all my files and do a clean install when I do this. If you are going with new parts you want it to run as fast as you can get it to run anyway. A few things to keep in mind when you change your mobo out. Make sure you order a processor with the correct socket. If you order a mobo that takes a socket 775 then make sure that the CPU is the same socket. Also you need to keep in mind what kind of Ram that the new mobo takes. If you can get a mobo that takes your old Ram type then you will not have to upgrade this. if you don't then you will have to buy new Ram as well. I am running the P4c800e-deluxe and I like it. I am in the mist of building a server grade pc it looks like this.
