Helo me with Old Motherboard
ok me and my friend just bought a old Multi-Media by Packard Bell for $3 just to mess with. We tore the whole thing up. Now Im trying to find the code for the mother board to identify it or something like that. Where would I look on the motherboard to find the info.
Also do old computers all have 2 ram spots? is there a way to add more? |

Alot of those older computers still have some parts you can use, in fact I use old parts all the time and put together minimal systems for my (computer poor) friends just so they can do websurfing and maybe a little wordprocessing.
Each Mobo has a code etched on it someplace which should give you a clue as to who the mnfr is. I am at work and cannot do the searching for you but use google and search for that particular code, also there is a funny little F symbol next to the code..I forget the website but you can go there and input the code and they will match it up witn the mnfr. If you have no luck post whatever info you can get and I will see what i can find. Also there are websites still active for Packard bell, although they are European, and there are also forums that can help you out with pb products, you just need to do a little searching. As far as the memory slots..the type of slots dictate just how much memory you can put in...anything older that 4 years or so and you will find very specific slots for a very specific memory type....(you might be able to search the www.crucial.com forums for help in determing what type/kind of slots they are.
