400fsb mobo@533?
I have a motherboard running at 400 fsb and im wondering if itll recognise a 533 p4 cpu if i put it in. Theres extended overclocking options in 1mhz steppings. Its a intel 845(e) chipset aopen ax4b motherboard. The board does not officially support the 533fsb.
Thx.

Never actually tried that myself (not big on overclocking), but my first thought would be that it would not work. I could be totally wrong on that though (heh, I have been wrong a couple of times before :whatever ). You may want to check around a bit more before you try that out, just so you don't accidentially fry something.

I dont think it works that way. Normally what you can do when you overclock is overclock the chip to accept a higher FSB on the motherboard.. but the motherboard has to be able to reach that speed.

The motherboard can reach that speed say eg. 2.4ghz but at 400. the motherboard does not claim to support 500fsb. Im thinking if i do try this cpu then the motherboard will recognise the cpu at say 2.0ghz or 2.2 ,
any takers?
