cable modem

Hey, does anybody know how to install a cable modem under linux? I've tried the network configuration tool and it'll see my network card but I can't actually get on the 'net. The internet config tool only has options for dial up and DSL, so I can't go that route. I dunno, I'm not a linux expert by any means. Oh yeah, and I'm running Red Hat 7.2 by the way.

it should be cofigured automatically ussualy. do you use a router?
