Lion7718 will become famous soon enough
I have an HP, so SP1 could have caused a destructive boot-up problem...HP & Microsoft came out with a Patch to fix it last week.
Anyway, I did notice it has speeded up Defrag alot, it used to take about 25 min. now it takes around 5.
Also after installing the HP Patch to fix SP1, myself and others gained back 5% of our Hard Drive space.....go figure that one out.

I refuse to install sp1, simply because I read about the horrible things it *can* do to my computer. I keep upto date with the regular windowsupdate. I dont have my old external cd-rw with me, so I cant afford to mess up my computer. Besides, my computer runs perfectly fine right now.

If its not broken already, fix it with a microsoft service pack.

I installed SP-1 and so far no problems. My only heartburn is that M$ included some updates that can only be gotten by installing the update....in particular, the DirectX update for WinXP. They do not offer this as a separate d/l for WinXP, as of yet anyway.

Hmmm... interesting.

I'm running ZAP and I hadnt' previously noticed a correlation but ZAP shat itself when I installed SP1.

I reckon on the whole SP1 was pretty good, one of the new, cosmetic things is the file download dialoge in IE.

I wonder if ZAP is actually making my ports stealth or not; I haven't checked. It just doesn't let me modify my app preferences once I've set them (got to be bloody carefully to get them right first time).

One thing, XP's resident firewall = a real shocker. PPPoE ADSL (at least my Australian Bigpond account) won't connect with the ICF active.

Haven't noticed a big difference with SP1, maybe only more dnserrors.

I like it and have a more," smoothly" running sysytem. Not faster or slower, things just "SEEM" to run smoother.

I can tell you I have another system that has a canon bjc 2000 printer attached to it. I have had problems with drivers on that thing, but since SP1. No issues with that printer. This is one thing the update corrected.
Cant speak for anyone else though,,Of Course.

hey its one big security patch... so i think it's useful
no more updating for me b/c sometime after installing SP1, Microsoft Update stopped working,,,and yes, i changed my key about 20 times before i stepped into SP1 and afterwards.
But like I even care...screw the updates and fixes...don't need 'em at this stage.
