Well, I started with Windows 3.11, up to 95 and then to 98SE, which is what I currently use. I have WinXP *cough* (thanks to............ ), just haven't got around to installing it yet. I'm sure that one day soon I will get up the courage and take the plunge......*L*

Anyway, Win98SE might not be the best of them all, but overall it serves its purpose might well. I've gotten use to the BSOD's and the little quirks and pretty much know what makes it tick to get things to run properly. Hardware/software compatibility is not that much of an issue either, so that makes Win98SE one of the better OS's for upgrades. Also, drivers are easy to find and are abundant. (That may change shortly because the M$ WHQL has started to drop support for Win98SE certified drivers, leaving 3rd party vendors pretty much on their own).

LPDad is on a distinguished road
Been through them all (except Win2000 and Unix).
By far (in my opinion only) WindowsXP is my favorite (flexability and stability), I would have to say that Linux it the most rock stable, lacking only in the software department--although more becomes available every day.
I started out with a Mac, and I loved it, but it lacks real flexability to expand outside of "mac OS" programs.

Alot of my friends swear by Win 2000 for stability.

Addendum:
-not too good with the Abacus thingy, but at one time I sure could handle a slide-rule (I had the dubious distinction of belonging to the LAST class in College who was actually taught how to use the slide-rule). I KNOW for a fact that only about 5 of you even know what a slide-rule is. hehe

Win 2k.

It is the best.........No blue screens. Not one...I don't even think a blue screen is in this package, the software has ben extremely stable.........IMHO...

I have onother PC in my home that is WinXP. Took me along time just to get the updates downloaded and installed (19 of them) after installing the fresh copy........where I had two IRQ conflicts for software updates for some hardware I had installed.......

Had them all the Windows OS's some point or another

Recently downgraded from XP Pro to 98se due to compatibility problems with XP that couldn't be resolved, no updates etc...

98se serves its purpose, *quite* well!

WinME is by FAR the worst OS I've ever encountered, for a LOT of reasons!

Tried out Mandrake 8.0 a few times too

Im using Windows ME.

It just one big, gigantic bug. Its like a beta for XP, they shipped it too early and too fast.

I feel for both you and you PC, young _hova!!

Micro$oft were in fact selling 98se at a higher price compared to ME at one point, that says it all. Stay WELL away from WinME!

You don't want to know how many times I had the BSOD.

In the middle of making webpages, school work.

I had to take anger management programs for it now, because of WinME.

Is MS liable for compensation ?

I dont think MS is liable for compo young_hova, but I use 98, plainold basic 98, it crashes, only when I am buring a CD or typing up a report for school thats due in 2 hours....

Bill gates is a nice man
I would stand in front of a train for him if he asked...

I tried linux but I couldnt get the hang of it...

maybe I should stick to typewriters and watching TV before I hurt myself...

I run 98 SE and XP in a dual boot. Never touched ME, all the reviews said it all from the start. When I had a choice of ME of 98 on my comp, I asked for 98

Will be trying out Linux some soon, but I am waiting for either Mandrake or Lycoris to come with KDE 3.. stupid reason, but damnit, copy and paste had better work how I want it to.
