trouble with cd-rom,dvd wont read
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
hi all I have problems with cd or dvd keep saying a device attached to the system is not functioning. this is when i try to open cd or dvd any solution ? i have run the antivirus norton professional 2004 and updated. found no virus. is there i need to check more ? |

If you mean the Drive wont open.....under the Drive Door on the Left side, you should see a pinhole...put a paperclip or something like that into the hole till you hit the latch...the door should open.
If Windows is having problems with it...shutdown your system & unplug the cable from the back of the drive..now bootup & make sure its not showing...Defrag...shut down again & plug that drive back in again...bootup & check that it is there & working right.

well, i buy another old hhd, because other old hdd i got problem with the cd drive or dvd drive is conflcting with nero and roxio but they are already removed and still having trouble with any cd or dvd drives, somewhere is hidding like nero or roxio is still hiding somewhere or other programme is holding it and refuse to work. i bought old hdd so i can test it and yes cd dvd drives are okay, i must say it is windoses problem. i dont know where to look. do you have idea ? thanks Thunderlord |

I have no clue what you are asking.............
Hdd = Hard drive last I looked then you go into talking about nero and roxio. .... If you are talking about a cd rom you should try what lion said that should fix it unless your cdrom is damaged. If its a hard drive your having an issue with erm I have no clue xD |
