Unhappy help!..ntldr missing

can somebody help?

I don't know what happened!.I simply tuned off the computer then tried to turn it back on.I got a message that said"ntldr missing press ctrl+alt+del to restart".I did so but I just got the same message.

Checked the floppy drive there is nothing in it.
I only have a system restore cd.

I googled the error message and found some info about a corrupted mbr but I haven't done any changes to the puter

I'm using Windows XP Home

I hope someone can help

Dr. Avery is on a distinguished road
Step 1:
Break out your winxp cdrom. If for some reason your computer is unable to boot from this CD, go to www.bootdisk.com and download the floppy boot disk maker for win xp home - the disks for pro will not work with your installation.

after using all 6 disks to boot, you will be given an option to press 'R' for the recovery console.

There are 2 commands you will need to use once the command prompt is up.

At the prompt type: fixmbr
press <enter>

Then type: fixboot
press <enter>

Take your disk(s) out of the drive and restart.

If this doesn't solve the problem, you may need to completely repartition, reformat, and reinstall windows (ouch).

One more possibility - You may recieve this error if your computer is overclocked. If you are overclocked, reset your processor clock speeds to normal and see if that clears it up.

I assume this is useless info, but I like to share it:
ntldr = NT Loader

The problem is that he has a one of those STUPID (and oftern worthless for fixing simple problems) Restore disk.

This happened to me once...I had to completely reinstall.

well I did all everything that Dr.Avery suggested .I even tried to recover the mbr.I couldn't and had to reformat as LPdad mentioned those restore disks are worthless. What really makes me mad is the fact that I didn't fo anything to cause this( no software, updates, installes,no nothing).I was just doing some photoshop work, which I of course lost. After this I'm considering a Mac...
