Computer not reconizing DIMM

So over the holiday i built a new system and i put in one DIMM of PC3200 and when i go into my computer to see what it says it only lists 512 MB does anyone know why? It is only one DIMM and I think i have the settings right in the BIOS but i am not to sure. ANy help would be great!

I think that's because it is a DDR PC3200/512MB memory stick.

So what's the problem? PC3200 means roughly 3.2 Gbps of bandwidth, nothing to do with capacity.

Is the DIMM single sided or double sided? If it's double sided maybe the AMD64 processor you're running is unable to access both banks. Which processor are you using?

Did you install the latest BIOS that seems to correct some memory detection problem when using Sempron CPUs?

how did you insert the memory? how many banks? which are filled and by which dimms?

The BIOS update that I posted above seems directly related to your issue, did you try it?
