too much ram

can you have too much ram? i read an answer in a forum where a guy said any more than 1 gb would just slow you down. the general subject was gaming and using a top of the line video card. any basis to this. i always thought the more you had the better. also how does hdd size relate to gaming

What Windows version are you using? If it's XP/2k don't worry their memory management is ok (or at least better than the old 9x). So don't worry
As for the HDD - the bigger the HDD (GB) the more space you'll have for games . HDD Cache is the factor that could (not sure to what extent) bring speed to gaming and other PC related activities.

(edit). Just found ~THIS~ article - could be the reason some ppl talk about this problem

so, conclusion: unless your are using a deprecated OS, the more ram you get the better. RAM is still in orders of a magnitude faster than disk IO.
