Upgrade Question
I recently upgrade a VAIO notebook which had 2x256 pc2100 DDR sodimms to 2x512 pc2700 DDR sodimms, which is acceptable according to the specs for the laptop. After the upgrade I noticed that whenever click the start button in Wndows XP that I hear a click noise (not from the speakers) and the noise is louder when I click on All Programs in XP. Could the noise be related to the ram upgrade? Will this harm my computer? How do I get the noise to stop?

You may actually need to contact VAIO about this. Who installed the RAM? Was it a VAIO certified technician? Any noise that is unusual like you describe I would worry about.
Did you order the RAM directly from VAIO?

Could possibly be a noise related to the reassembling of the laptop, rather than the ram itself, definatley sumthin to check tho!
