memory choice
Hi I have a asus p4p800-e 800 mhz bus motherboard. I curently am running intel Pentium 4 2.2 Northwood 400MHz FSB Socket 478 with two 256 meg 2100 ddr memory chips. I want to upgrade to more memory but allso want to get memory I can use when I get to upgrade my cpu. Can I run pc6400 with the cpu I got now.
I do know with the old Dimm memory you could run 133 mhz memory in a 100 mhz system and that it would only run at 100 mhz. Anyone know if this is true for DDR memory too |

It's true... but you can only run DDR400 with this mobo.. I think. Haven't checked yet. So DDR 3200... which is 400Mhz bus speed.
edit: Just checked... yup. DDR3200 is the max speed your mobo will support. Up to this speed it's compatible. I'll check what happens after that. ![]() p.s. Welcome to PCTT |
