memory choice

Hi I have a asus p4p800-e 800 mhz bus motherboard. I curently am running intel Pentium 4 2.2 Northwood 400MHz FSB Socket 478 with two 256 meg 2100 ddr memory chips. I want to upgrade to more memory but allso want to get memory I can use when I get to upgrade my cpu. Can I run pc6400 with the cpu I got now.
I do know with the old Dimm memory you could run 133 mhz memory in a 100 mhz system and that it would only run at 100 mhz. Anyone know if this is true for DDR memory too

It's true... but you can only run DDR400 with this mobo.. I think. Haven't checked yet. So DDR 3200... which is 400Mhz bus speed.

edit: Just checked... yup. DDR3200 is the max speed your mobo will support. Up to this speed it's compatible. I'll check what happens after that.

p.s. Welcome to PCTT
