Hi.. try to exchange the places of the RAMs on the mobo. Does it recognize the correct amount during POST (where it checks your RAM, HDDs, CPU during boot)?

techno means the first black screen you get when you turn on your PC (BIOS), it usually counts the memory, does it count around 512 megs?

Actually berksie both RAM banks will work at the speed of the slower chip (2100).

@joegi: Glad you fixed it. Cheers

yup, that's why techno adviced to turn them around, cause the BIOS is not that clever (why should it) and expects the first one it encounters to be the fastest.

greffov, that brought a question to my mind. I've got in slot (i) 64mb PC133 168pin, no parity, unbuffered, SDRAM and in slog (ii) 128mb PC133, do you think the bigger one should be in slot #1?

I wan to be clear, so you're saying there should be no problem using two diff. speeds of RAM? I noted a marked improvement when I was running PC133 and PC100 ram. Is that just b/c PC100, PC133 it so slow and RAM's moved into faster speeds nowadays or do you suppose that it could be a manufacturer's issue? I Bleed Money lol

Caly - there's no need to put the bigger ram in first slot. Or at least there is no such rule put them in whatever order desired.
PC100 and PC133 would run at 100MHz speed no matter what the speed of the fastetst RAM was.
Cheers

Yah how i checked to see if i did somthing wrong with the ram is that i took out the stick that was already there and left the new one how i first put it in and tried to turn on PC. But when i turned it on it made weird sounds like it was going to blow up so i just kept on trying to put it in right and it magically worked.

o0o0o0o The package the ram came in said it was a 2100/2700 so i guess it worked for either one, i checked my PC and i had a DDR 2100 and luckily i bought a DDR 2100/2700. I heard if u put a 64mb with a 256mb it will make the 256 run slowwwwwww.

Problem wit POST

Hello all i just noticed when i turn my PC on and on the POST screen it says i have 0 RAM 2 slots. But when i right click my computer and under general it says
2.67 Ghz, 512 MB of RAM. What could be the problem there? The problem i was having before is resolved but i just noticed that it says i have 0 ram in startup? Can someone explain?? Or help. Thank You

It's probably something with the mobo that doesn't recognize correctly the RAM. The fact that you can pass POST means you have RAm ,and the fact that Windows sees it (oh my Windows sees something) means that you don't have a problem .
