PcTechTalk Radio has been running for a few months and now that we have the bugs worked out. we are ready to expand! Input from our listeners and DJ staff discussions, all agree that we need more DJ’s. With the few we currently have, there's too many hours when an automated playlist is maintaining the Radio's stream.

To enable more of our members to take part on the radio, it has been decided to make some changes in the DJ requirements and add a ranking system.

DJ Criteria and Ranking System :

Playlist Dj’s: This is good for those online a lot who don’t mind using their bandwidth for the radio. If you're like me, you have your pc hooked up to your stereo to listen to music, so the change from your routine would be to log into IRC and join the Dj’s channel (yes, we have one). Output is set on ‘Winamp’, so sound card issues should be eliminated.

Music Only DJ’s: This is interactive, taking and playing requests but not using a microphone. This is for those who don’t have a headset, or who’s sound card isn’t up the task of DJ’ing live. Output is set on ‘Winamp’, so sound card issues should be eliminated. Music Only Dj’s take precedence over Playlist Dj’s, and if a Music Only DJ is available, they have first option to go on the airwaves.

Live DJ’s: Live DJ's are fully interactive and take requests. Live DJ's are auditioned, during which time we will also assist in setting up and tuning your equipment to determine sound streaming integrity. Live Dj’s take precedence over both 'Music Only DJ’s' and 'Playlist Dj’s', When a Live DJ is available, they have the option to replace a Playlist DJ. Live DJ's wont automatically replace an on-air Music Only DJ, but will be given 1st refusal when the current DJ goes off-air.

Senior DJ’s: With A lot more DJ’s around, there will be a need for more people to oversee the radio and keep things organized. The responsibilities of a Senior DJ will be to assist in the day to day running of the radio station in IRC, making sure the stream sounds ok, assisting DJ’s when taking over from an automated list, making sure RaDiOBoT shows the right DJ’s details and assisting people with the commands used when interacting with RaDiOBoT. This is a position of great responsibility. Senior DJ’s will be drawn from all of the above groups, 'Playlist, Music Only, and Live', and will be decided upon by a staff vote.

Post here or come and see RipperRoo, Cirga, Lion or Gabe in the PcTechtalk.com IRC channel. This is the best route, as those logging on to IRC to get our attention; gets on the air faster.

*Broadband with minimum 128 upstream is required

Sounds like things are getting more and more set up to run a smooth operation. RipperRoo...you rawk babee...good job. Love this...it's a hoot...happy it has been a possitive response for both the radio channels and pctt in general.

awww man, that sucks so bad, our listeners were realy lookin forward to an auzzie DJ - would of been our third continent to be represented.

ah well pctechtalk (almost) worldwide radio will have to survive without ya for a little longer.
