Old Thinkpad Laptop Display Problem - Cannot fit desktop on Screen
Hi guys,
Have just acquired an old IBM Thinkpad laptop (300MHz of raw Celeron power! lol) and put Arch Linux on it! After having problems with ACPI (sorted through grub) I have now got to the stage where I'm trying to get the X server working. Ive got it displaying my window manager (enlightenment) and the twm default manager, but the problem in both is that the Desktop size exceeds the borders of the display... AND it does this at ANY resolution I set the X server to! Ive tried using CtrlAlt+ to change modes and have the same problem with all of them. I've disabled the BIOS expand screen option so, for example, when I set resolutions of 640x480 the border of the displayable screen resizes correctly, but for some reason the whole desktop is STILL not fully displayed! I have to scroll around with the mouse cursor to see different parts of the Desktop. Any ideas?!?! I've googled this problem and all the solutions I've found thus far are unsuccessful. ![]() Any help, much appreciated! KC ![]() |
