RED HAT linux...HELP
I came across this piece of software, as you do, coolguy: and have had an up n down time with it.
As I've created a boot disk sucessfully, via a prog called 'rawrite', anyway followed the instructions all the way until it as me to install the red hat CD, which I did, but for some reason it cannot read it. Is this because it is copied or do I need to enter a command of some kind? This is the 1st time I'm messing with the ol Red Hat, so be gentle with my brain cells.....

Well... if I understand well, your problem at the moment is: "How do I get the RedHat installer working?"
For that question I like to know which version of RedHat are you having, how old is your computer (does it support booting from CD-ROM?)

Yeap. I've configured the PC so that it should boot from the CD, but there was no joy there.
So I created a boot disk (floppy) and I get so far as entering the keyboard info & when it says enter tour Red Hat CD it seems not to read it. Is this because it's a copy? Or am I doing something else wrong??

hmmm, since you can freely download an installer CD iso, I don't think it has a copy protection, if you steer at that.
Another thing could be an invalid copy of the CD (that's why it won't boot) or linux not be able to find your CDROM, but since your computer is relatively new, I don't expect that to be the problem.

Maybe there was an error while downloading the file?
Why don't you try cheking the MD5 sum to check the integrity of the file?

Thanks
thanks every1..
I've tried md5sum and it seems to bring up relevant details about the software, but still no joy. So I've decided to use a m8's copy...thanks again for all your suggestions..
