Using Windows XP and Linux on the same hard drive

Hi all,

I know Im gonna sound like a damn newb again and Im really sorry but I really want to do this.

I have a copy of Knoppix Linux on a cd that I burned a while back and I really like it. The problem is as you probly geussed I cant save stuff to my harddrive with it. cause its on the Cd. So I wana put it on my harddrive so I can start up with it. But at the same time I wana keep Windows XP on here to so I can switch between both of them at any time without a Cd. Is there a way to do that?

Also I have a pretty large harddrive so I think I have enough room 30 GB is my harddrive.

A very simplistic chain that describes various steps....

But couple of things that u need to do b4 hand for safe installation is create a partition with atleast 3gig in Linux file system or FAT32 coz i think linux will reformat it and also create a swap partition of some 256-360 MB...

See the above link and also google a bit there shld be a lot of articles and howto's lying arnd on net
