do you have any virus scanning software to check for viruses? It could be a number of things from a virus hogging all of the system memory to the processor overheating and causing the system to chut down. If you don't know anything about overclocking thats a good thing because then we can rule that out. Is this a pc that you built? If it is did you use a good heatsink/fan combo?

Have you opened the case to the pc and cleaned it out with air since you have had it? Make sure you ground yourself to the case before touching anything inside and that the pc is off and unplugged from the wall and just ground yourself by holding on to the case or by using a grounding strap. Use compressed air to blow out all the dust and make sure the vent holes where the fans pull air in from are clean too. You should be able to check cpu temp in the bios which will give you idle temp with no load on the processor and there is a couple of software monitors that will give you the temp of the processor at all times like motherboard monitor which is my favorite even though I haven't used it in a while. You can download it here at http://mbm.livewiredev.com/download.html

turn the pc on with the side of the case removed, i am suspecting that your processor heat sink fan has stopped working, if it is running at 79 celcius it's no wonder it locks up or shuts down. I would enable all of the warnings that way you know when there is a problem. First you need to see if it is the cpu fan that has quit working.

ok you wont believe this but i have fixed the problem. Now how i did it is the funny bit i looked hard at the help file and settings in the m monitor prog and seen that in the help file his example for the temperature sensor and fan sensor he used the same board sensor.
Like me he has three sensors and three fans but all i done was change sensor 3 (the 79 degrees chip nuker)from the drop down list (should display board sensor) added the diode setting and bam the fan temp dropped to around 65 and stayed there on idle till i opened a apps now this is strange since its against the rules but i tried adding the diode setting to the other two and it sent them up into orbit so weird hey but it works So then it only moved up to 68 degrees ![]() |
