Lightbulb Intels on-chip heatsinks...

Anyone know if that little idea with the aluminum heatsink on the chip of the Pentium 4 and some of the Pentium III's actually works? Benchmarks show the intel chips don't burn like a mother f*'ers like the AMD's do, but is it just for looks or what? :p
