kill norton

can any one help me kill norton internet security trial it was pre-loaded onto my pc when i bought it so it has its fingers in all the pies.ive tried (start,control panel,add/remove programs)Also c drive program files but i get a warning message saying if i delete norton it may effect other programs naughty norton plz help im new to this.
(sorry its the 2004 trial addition)
