winningbabe is on a distinguished road
hd using pio mode

i have a WD 40GB hd with winxp sp2 and for some reason my hd is using pio mode instead of dma. i have went in device manager and set if for dma if available, checked my bios. dont know what else to try. any suggestions?

Uninstall the ATA controller in Device manager. Then search and install it again (it will either find its drivers alone, or you'll have to use your motherboard CD). That does the job sometimes....
