Limit reservable bandwidth

I ve come across a tweak in winxp registry regarding setting the 'limit reservable bandwidth' % to 0..to improve bit speed.
Problem is , its apparently in Networks >Qos scheduler; which im having trouble finding.I am on a dial up connection;would this Qos packet be there at all??

I have kept adjusting that thing multiple times over the last few reformats. Each time I go looking for it I get lost.
Give me a bit and I will track it down for you.

Ok, just had to search my harddrive , then through all of my .docs on XP tweaks. I really should put them all here for everyone to share.

ANYWAY Here is the BANDLIMIT TWEAK:

Bandwith Limit
(Warning : It’s been suggested by more knwoledgeable people than me that this tweak does nothing, and is in fact but a myth. In any case, applying it doesn’t appear to harm the system…)

1. Make sure your logged on as actually "Administrator". do not log on with any account that just has administrator privileges. To log in as an administrator:
-click on start->logoff->logoff
-in the logon screen hold Ctrl+Alt+Del.
-in the user field type 'Administrator' <-case sensitive.
-in the password field type the password for the administrator (if you don't have one leave blank)
-press ok

2. Start - run - type gpedit.msc
3. Expand the "Computer configuration" branch
4. Expand the "Administrative templates" branch
5. Expand the "Network" branch
6. Highlight the "QoS Packet Scheduler" in left window
7. In right window double click the "limit reservable bandwidth" setting
8. On setting tab check the "enabled" item
9. Where it says "Bandwidth limit %" change it to read 0-- Click apply, OK, exit gpedit.msc
10. Go to your Network connections (start->my computer->my network connection-> view network connections). Right click on your connection, choose properties then under the General or the Networking tab (where it lists your protocols) make sure QoS packet scheduler is enabled.
11. Reboot, and you’re done !

Hehe, No wonder I can never remember, you have to do that stupid gpedit.msc thing....LOL

There is an easy way to turn off the "limit reservable bandwidth" junk......Also, a bunch of other tweaks can be done to "fix" security leaks and other M$ "spying" issues in WinXP....

A little freeware utility called: XPAntiSpy

Screenshot: XPAntiSpy (Screenshot is of version 3.51...New version is 3.7, which has other added tweaks and updates....)

You can check it out: Here
The site is in Deutsch, however, if you navigate to the Download section, you will find several language versions....

Hehehheheehe, thanks LPDad...... but it was your persistence that converted me.....*L* I have to admit I was a devout Win98SE user and it was a tough decision to break away. krzy helped too, seeing that I used her 'puter (not mine) as a "test-bed" to install WinXP for the first time........
