Blue Screen of Death

Hi, I have no idea what program is causing this problem to my computer but I hope I can get some advise...
There was once when I boot up my comp and got an error msg telling me that I have a stack overflow due to some program that I had installed. And ever since then whenever I run Kazaa Lite, the blue screen of death would appear and error msg in VXD plus some of the stack address... And my kazaa lite would then be terminated.. Is kazaa lite the one causing the problem as other application is not affected...
And one more thing, Recently I upgraded my Cd-writer and my comp would hang on me when it is left idle for a few minutes.. Is it due to the loose cable connections or some settings that I had overlooked??
Looks like I will have to reformat my hard disk since so many problems start to creep up on my computer....Argghhh..

VXD refers to "Virtual Device Driver"......these are files that tell your hardware devices what to do and how to do it. If a VXD file gets damaged or corrupted or deleted you will have problems.

I would recommend running "System File Checker" (in Win98/SE) or "File Signature Verification Utility" (in WinXP) to check the status of your files. Win98/SE will allow you to replace system files that are damaged, corrupted, or missing.

If you are getting errors on Boot, it is most likely due to missing system files.

Hope this helps......

If it is ME then don't be surprised.

If ur using ME then its easy for the big blue 2 get u. Man, mine jumps up atleast 2 times a night on me. It may be that ME was rushed but i think its just because it's not balanced.
I say reinstall with extreme predjuses. But do remember to clean out all those important files you have and get the address of what ever programs you downloaded if coping them is not fesable.
It may sound harsh but i had to reinstall and sincs last week everthing on my end has been OK.
But do what ever gbread49 or Music Pirate say they are experts in there feild.LOL
