New Intel P4 3.06ghz

Barely more than a year ago, desktop processors crossed the 2-GHz threshold. And now here comes Intel with a new 3.06-GHz chip. This isn't just another speed bump: Intel has added new technologies that increase performance in some instances. But Intel's 3.06-GHz P4 still sometimes trails AMD's new Athlon XP 2800+.
The most notable new addition to the Pentium 4 architecture is Hyper-Threading technology. A form of simultaneous multithreading (SMT), Hyper-Threading lets a single physical processor appear as two (or more) logical processors to a system. The new CPU is compatible with today's existing operating systems, software, and hardware.
