Lazy Dog
ADSL modem

I have broadband and use an Alcatel SpeedTouch USB modem. The problem is than every now and then it discnnects and I will either have to restart or take out the USB and plug it in again. Is there any advise for this problem?:computer:

Hmmm.. What Operating System are you running?

Might have a few suggestions.. where did you get your PC frfom as well? And have you ever had AOL installed on your PC?

Also, does it happen randomly or when running p2p programs like emule? emule has a bug that can kill your connection every few minutes... There are ways to stop that from happening whilst running emule, but 1st we need to know more....!

I am running WinXP PRO,no I never had AOL installed and it happens randomly. Other times it can stay on for days and other times every 20 minutes it goes off
Oh! and I bought it from PC WORLD

ugghhh...me too!

Happens to me but a little less frequently now. I've got a contract with DirecTVInternet DSL, that I'll be glad to get out of in January.

Ever checked with DSLReports? Much more helpful for internet problems (no offense to TheCows)

Access Denied
cant remember where this is done,"sorry" but by default, the power is set to be turned off to usb ports as part of some energy saver crap. I had the same problem and it was because windows was shutting power to my usb ports when IT (windows) decided it wasnt needed.

Sorry dont remember where.
