Hi Nferno666,

To display the XP style "3D" looking icons, you have to have your graphics set to 32bit. A 16bit setting will display the icons in a more "flat" look and the icons will not have the smooth, sharp look to them.

When you say PowerToys, I take it you are referring to TweakUI for WinXP. TweakUI should not have any bearing on how the icons are displayed (the color quality). Using the "Repair Icons" function only clears the icon cache and fixes problems when Windows is displaying the wrong icon for an application. You can do the same thing manually by deleting the "ShellIconCache" file and then rebooting to have Windows rebuild the icon cache.

Hope this helps and Welcome to UTC.....

Seriously, EVERYONE with WinXP should get and use xp Icon tweak. Save it somewhere with all of your Special things so that when you do a reinstall/reformat you can find it easily.
