Hi berks.....Go to: Start/Run...and type in....DXDIAG....that will take you to the DirectX Diagnostic Utility. On the "DirectX Files" tab check to make sure that your DX files are current and that there are no problems...Also, on the "Display" tab, check to see if Direct3D Acceleration is Enabled. You can also Test Direct3D for possible problems.
If you do find a problem, I would recommend d/l'ing the current DirectX 8.1 and installing it (even if you already have it installed). It will not hurt to reinstall it over your DirectX layer. If you don't have a copy of the current DirectX, you can get it from: Here Hope this helps.......

I noticed that your version was 4.08.01.090........there is a recent update to DirectX 8.1 (updated to DirectX 8.1b) some of the DX 3D files were updated in this new version (updated to version 4.08.01.0901).
As I said, I would first reinstall DX to see if that corrects the problem. If not, we can go from there to solve the problem..... ![]() Also, check for updated drivers for your card and make sure you have the most current drivers installed for it. BTW: Seeing that you got the "3D not available error" when you tested Direct3D, its possible that your card does not support 3D Acceleration. Try Disabling 3D Acceleration and see if the game will run. |
