OK lots of requirements here so don't get scared. I'm looking for something to fill my breaks when I get nervous enough from development, work, etc. So I'm looking for online game to play with others but:
1) I want it to be free 2) Online 3) Not requiring 1GBpersecond Inet speed - I am shaped at 44kbps so it'll have to run with that. 4) Not dropping moves after not logging for certain periond of time (so I may miss to log today and tommorow, but log after two days for a while) 5) may be text based (not too bad if the idea's good). 6) a good rpg, strategy, adventure, quest genre will be perfect 7) prefferably non-Java environment - just some kind of executable I have to dld or browser based (non-Java browser based of course )8) well it would be good to have at least some more people playing it... hehe That's it I think... haven't played a game in a while so I would appreciate it if you offer something. Thanks |

I play 3 online games, because alot of times it only takes me 5 minutes a day to do what I need to do. I'm not positive they are what you want, but you could check 'em out.
FAITH This one has 2 servers. One is the battle server that is a little more fast paced and doesn't require you to go on quests to get a good score. The RPG server is a little slower, but is more in depth. I play them both. The only 2 drawback that I have noticed is that they require you to log in at least every 2 days. I have personally gone 3 days and did not lose anything. And they only support the IE browser and they use pop up windows for some of the game. These are not ads, but events within the game, but you have to turn off any pop up blocker while playing. KINGS OF CHAOS This is a really fun game. I believe you are required to log in at least once a week, but I've never gone longer than a couple of days, because if you allow your in game wealth to build up too much someone is bound to attack you and take most of it. This won't ruin the game for you, but it kinda sucks when your saving up for that certain weapon. There are ways around this, but I won't get too deep into the game now. MAFIA Mafia is a fun game, but I haven't played in awhile. You go commit petty crimes until you become a major criminal, and eventually you can run a whole crime family. Interesting game. I hope these might be of some use to you, whether at work, or just to waste a few minutes at home. I have enjoyed playing. By the way the Faith one is doing a promo for their 2nd anniversary and they are letting everyone have free access to a premium edition account (usually you have to pay for the premium account). I'm not sure if they allow newer members this, or if it was just for established players, but you can read more about this promotion here. |

Thanks for the fast replies guys. I looked at the games you recommend and ...hehe OK lets see.
1) Soldat (means Soldier in Russian) - nice I'm dlding it now. Will see. The only negative I see about it is that it probably doesn't have some kind of long term action (like experience points gathering etc) but It's probably my fault for not putting it as a requirement 2) Faith - lol sounds great and I would play it with pleasure if it didn't say IE was required 3) King Of Chaos - sounded great at first but then I saw it was one of these games that many ppl spam boards and chat rooms with. You can give your link to ppl and when they click on it you gather points. 4) Mafia - the only thing I didn't have a deep look at. Not that I don't want to be the second Godfather but I wanted (or think I want!?!) more kind of fantasy based things. Anyways thanks again I hope these will be useful to someone here. Will post more when I find. Cheers |

Here's a game I actually code for...
Ancient Anguish Text based, yeah, but it's massive. It'll take some time to figure everything out, but most people are rather friendly, though there are ones who will try and send you to your death... to avoid that, when you first log in, go south twice and 'grab carving', then ask away on that line. It's been around for over 12 years... they must be doing SOMETHING right! All you need is a Telnet client, and it's completely free (Though donations are always welcome).

I found this cute turn-based strategy some weeks ago - The battle for Wesnoth. Haven't played that much, but it looks very promising - free, even opensource I think, online, good story, lots of missions. And some of friends I recommended it to already fell in love with it
![]() The site of the game for those interested is: http://www.wesnoth.org/ |
