ABOU
geforce mx 200 problem

ok my friend has a p4 1.8 256mb SDRAM and a geforce mx 200 graphicscard

he plays counter-strike tha tis it nothing else lol


getting down to my point his pc was fcuked a couple of days ago and i rebooted it for him

but for some reason he is getting major computer lag when playing even on 640x480 i think that is it lol

i dont know why it is like this and i even got new drivers for the card anyone any ideas on how to fix it ??

1st off do a full defrag, then if things are still slow, take a look at whats running by pressing ctrl+alt+Delete and checking the proccesses tab, if you click the colum headers for memory and cpu usage you will see whats using up all the resources, last but not least - do a scan for spyware with adaware or one of the dozens of spyware hunters out there to see if its spy/addware thats causing the lag.

if none of the above works, full format & reinstall time im afraid.

ok i did it all i just did a full format and reinstallther eon his pc he still gettign lg and there is not spyware or anything i duno what it cud b

it is a compaq pc manufactured so im guessing the temp is not the problem but i will get back to you on that

as far as resources are concerned even with all his crap shut down msn off all runnign applications off he is still gettign quite considerable pc lag

the make isnt going to mean a lot if the heatsinks/fans are full of dust, if this is the case then it will cause overheating and the cpu will throttle down to reduce temps

what are the requirements for the video game. Does it require a better graphics card? I know a lot that i play do!

it is counter strike

pentium 3 500mhz processor - hes got a 1.8

96mb of ram - 265 mb

16mb graphics card - 128 mb

500mb hdd space 4 gb free

it isd not the spec that is causing this
