Games start to fade - the new era of copy protection.

Cant shoot straight ?

blame copy protection.

A clever new copy protection systemm fights piracy by turning exprienced gamers into clueless noobs

Instead of refusing to run completely, copied games will still play, but over time they will degrade.

Gamers will run out of ammo more quickly or be unable to aim properly, steering will become eratic, and over time the game will become completely unplayable.

The system fade, uses a pattern of data on the disc that looks like scratches, if the program can't find the "scratches" then the copy protection starts to kick in.

Developers Codemasters hioe that the system will encourage illegal gamers to buy legitimate copies.

interstingly enough.. there will always be a way.. (insert evil laugh here).

Thats ok though. If the game plays tot he point where I can decide if i want to actually pay money for it (which I always do when the game truly deserves that) then its no biggie.

They are doing something similar with VCD's in japan, once you hire a VCD it will perish 2 days after watching it.
Saves late fines and taking them back spose.

Theres a lot of DVDR's out to buy nowadays which will suffer disk rot or some unknown fungus that attacks them, this is a proven fact.

Hmm yeah thats a clever idea, but when you can stil use an image of the cd on your harddrive, with a more detailed imkage surely it would be able to pick up on these little scratch things, im sure it will be broken - to www.gamecopyworld.com we head!
