What RPG's do you recomend
I am about tired of playing my games that I have right now. So I was just wondering if any of you know of any RPG's that are good out there. I just bought Rise of Nations RTS and it's pretty kool but I dont know if it is going to last in my collection. I base RTS's off of Starcraft and it just does not compare for me.

Most of the RPG effort out there are MMORPGs. Everyone is looking to be the next Everquest.
The next hot one is going to be Star Wars Galaxies. If you're looking for something that is more traditional, then you could just do the Everquest thing, but that game is pretty old now. If you're opposed to paying $10-12 per month, then you might want to go with Neverwinter Nights or Morrowind. They're both very good and can be played either slow, quest-based D&D or just hack and slash. It's just really based on what you like in an RPG. Tell me things you've liked in the past and we might be able to reccomend something more appropriate. |

I never relly tried MMORPGs but if your looking for single player campaign the best RPG I've tried so far are:
Neverwinter Nights Baldurs Gate (especially BG2) Planescape Torment (yes I'm a fantasy addict...) |

Yeah I have played all the MMORPG's and that is my favorite to play but I have to wait on another good one to come out. I am waiting on SWG and EQ2 to come out till then I am looking for a good single player game. I have loved and finished all the baulders gate and morrowind games. I have never tried to Play Planescape Torment I might have to try that one out.blackspawn is that a D&D based game? I really like the D&D based RPG's. Guess what the first RPG I have ever played was. Yep you guessed it D&D.

I guess the forumla realy comes down to hwt makes anyone an addict.
I'm addicted to power. I want it to be difficult to obtain and be worth the thousands of hours I put into becomeing a "god". I want to be powerful against "monsters", I want to be powerful against other human players online and I want to be powerful in owning everything in the game that is substantial and rare. Some want to pretend they are in another world. Some are in it for the story. Some are just looking for a big colorful 3d chatroom. And some just want to wreak havoc. |

Neverwinter Nights is amazing how close to the real D&D rules it is. I have yet to see any other game truly come as close.. and authentic to the rules.
And it has lots of fun play time in it.. the single player campaigns are wonderful.. and you can play online for free on other peoples servers and actually have them GM for you.. which is alot of fun sometimes

online gaming
I know that Neverwinter Nights has a good online gaming system but you get the children hosting games so they can kill you for no reason at all. It's just hard to find a person that hosts one that is really trying to do right.

I agree. That is a frustrating thing about NWN. The only way to have a decent multiplayer experience ther is to make friends and arrange games like real d&d.
I hate to say it, but MMORPGs are the only real online experience. What are you looking for in an RPG. |

Well I would say that I would be looking for something that has more than 5 hours of gameplay time. Interesting game play at least a decent story line. Big fan of the Final Fantasy games. Love Never winter nights boulders gate 1 & 2 those type of games. Hope that answered your question.

NVW is as you already know from the posts above a true D&D game (3rd edition rules).
Planescape Torment is... diferent. It has the most engaging storyline I ever saw in a game. It make you want to finish it if only to know the end of the story. It's pretty long if you do all the side quest nad it's one of those games that you'll want to play all over again and see if you missed something. The only problem with it IMO is that you can become VERY strong by playing solo (no "sidekicks") pretty early in the game which makes the game very easy. Anyone who likes a good storyline should play Torment, those of you who don't pastrhough the dialogs just to get to the hack-and-slashing, then I'm sure Torment will be to your liking. |

In that case, Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is about a trillion hours of gameplay. I haven't played the expansion, but I understand it adds a lot of great story elements and a ton of spells and items.
Dungeon Siege is never ending. The computer will constantly challenge you with new enemies that constantly require you to do a little more than mindlessly hack on the enemy. The sequel is coming out soon too. There isn't much coming out that isn't MMO. Anything else that is or was great is very old school. Non-MMO RPGs have been on ice for awhile now. |

Yeah I know and the only time I don't like that non MMO's or put on the back burner is when I am tired of all the MMORPG's that are out. MMO's are my favorite type of game out there to play. Everyone is trying to get into the MMO market now adays. They will all make good money because it will have it's loyall fan base but there will always be the ppl that you can never please. So they have to keep up with the traditional RPG's as well.

The new 1.10 patch is supposed to be out soon for Diablo II, so maybe u might want to re-install and play it again. Dungeon Seige is my favorite game at the moment. The best RPG ive played in my opinion.
