Planetside n00b needs help

If anyone out there plays Planetside, would you please give me some pointers?
1) What should I put my points into initially?
2) What are some good ways to get Battle Experience initially?
3) What servers do you play on? I'm going to follow your squad until you invite me to join! lol

But I'm serious about 1 and 2. Any help is appreciated
