Thermal paste? Yes, you most definately need it.

The only tip I can think of off hand is to be careful with the placement of the motherboard mounting posts.( I know there is a name for em, but I can't think of it) If you place an extra one on the case you can really damage the MoBo.

Sounds like a nice system, especially the upgrades.

Keep us posted and take lots of pics.............

yup, as rasta said, the placement of the standoffs is very important, another thing you should do is make sure to take anti-static precautions, there would be nothing worse than puttin you new system together only to find static discharge blew half the chips while you were assembling it.

UPDATE:

Computer Has Been Built And All Parts Working well and going Except for the CPU FAN.

Heres They Specs and the processor i got has changed:

AMD Athlon XP 1800+
MSI KT2 COMBO motherboard
The ram is 128 SDRAM i put in from my other computer.
Seagate Barracuda 80GB HDD
My Nvidia video card
MSI DVD rom 16x
The PSU: Omni 400 WATT power supply ( i though i was getting 350 watts)
Windows XP Professional

Details: CPU FAN WONT GO.

The CPU FAN WILL NOT SPIN.

In my motherboard , I Swapped my other CPU fan from my family computer it will not work either but if i put both on the system fan connection socket , those cpu fans will work. The celeron cpu fan does work, thats from the other computer. the AMD fan does spin when i put it in the SYSTEM FAN socket.

Would the Processor fan socket connection on the motherboard be stuffed up and would i have to replace my motherboard at all???

the computer does boot into the startup routine as it checks your ram and stuff but the computer did not detect my CPU fan was spinning.

Thats the only problem running my system.

Whats a Solution to this problem and has anyone experienced this problem before?

Before i have to take it to my computer store.

Thanks
Ph33r Viper

P.S If ya want more info, just say so.
and dont have a camera to take pics.

So, what are you saying here, does your fan not spin at all, or does your mobo not recognise your spinning fan ?

If it isn't working at all, don't boot up your pc, amd cpu's will run for about 10 seconds without cooling, and after that you can put 'm in your trashbin, or frie an egg on it.

If it isn't detecting your cpu cooler speed, but it is working, chances are that your mobo doesn't support this feature

Again, if your cpu fan isn't working, don't start up your pc, it'll cost you a new one (cpu).

yes, and yes if its a new board and the header isnt working (the 3 pin connector on the board) take it back to the shop, if one thing is broken whats to say others wont be.

and as wobbel says 'if your cpu fan isn't working, don't start up your pc' i learned the hard way that the average life expectancy of the xp 1800 without proper cooling is measured in seconds.

Why a DVD burner and a cd burner? the dvd will write cd's, so imo it would be a waste of cash.

The Sony comes with a 24X burner, fast enough to burn most CDs in under 3 minutes. I don't really burn many CDs since getting my DVD burner, you might wanna think about spending that money on more RAM.

Thats a real nice system Viper. Pics, we always want pics!!!!!!

Thanks for the replies,

About the CD burner and DVD burner.

Im Getting the CD Burner first but i have one only in the other computer.

The DVD burner im getting hopefully for my birthday.

The CD burner is $75 Australian and very cheap, and normal price is $160 at HARVEY NORMAN which is a furniture/bedding/computer/electronics store. and other places have it for $90 but the 52x32x52 is onlly ONE place i can get it so far.

DVD Burner: I like to download movies and burn away.
Its use im putting it for is mainly DVD burning only really and reading DVD's

Ram is $150 so i dont think i could get another stick. im getting a stick of 512MB and maybe upgrade later on next year if i get the 3 hard drives.

Thanks For your suggestions and i will consider them.
