How do i make my own avatars?

Hi all,i have some great ideas for my own avatars and was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction as to how i go about making them...and what software i will need....wanna create my own,individual and unusual avatars....thanks in advance

Greetings TBO and welcome to the herd

Personally, I used Photoshop to create just about all of mine. Other apps worth looking into are PaintShop Pro and Fireworks.

I'm looking forward to seeing some of your creations

Learn how to use your layers in any app that you choose to use. Plugins need to be understood in order to use them to get the desired effect of what you want to see in your image.

Avatars are 100x100 pixels for our site. Nothing bigger that that please.
