I remember how we met
Like it was just yesterday
My car had broken down
And we were going the same way
You offered me a ride
And we soon began to speak
We hit it off at once
Got together the next week

That was yesterday
The nights were cold and long
But we were together and our love was strong
Way back then felt like I belong
But today I sit alone
Singing yesterdays song

Soon we’d been together
Six months and then a year
You moved into my place
Felt so good to have you here
I woke up in the morning
Just to lay and watch you sleep
My love for you so strong
That my whole life felt complete

Then I lost my job
Things changed overnight

Circles; Part 2

The circle has an end
And at last I broke the wheel
For now I have a future
I can’t tell you how that feels

For ten long years I’ve struggled
On and off the streets
I never thought I’d get a job
My future looked too bleak

But times for me are changing
And things are looking good
I’ve got myself some training
And a quiet neighbourhood

My confidence restored
I sent an application
The interview went well
Not your tough interrogation

I heard the very next day
That I’d got the position
It’s more than I could hope for
In all my wildest wishin!

And so to those that helped me
In my hours of desperation
I would like to say great big thanks
Please share in my elation

For every issue that you bought
Was a step upon this road
And my eternal gratitude
Is the debt that your now owed

It's beautiful in that it is an inward observation and it remains completely honest but i wish it ended on a happier tone. But life isn't always fare.

It has been awhile but here goes nothing... More often than not my poetry involves love. This one is the very best poem i think i've ever written, well i should say my 'favorite' perhaps not the best, since i really should not rate my own work...

"How Many?"

How many men
Can love as thee?
With the soft kisses like amber petals of rain
falling....
falling....
With tiger's eyes, outlined in gold,
you draw forth from my soul,
you summon mustard-brown sunlight to touch my womb,
my lips....
my hips....


How many men
love as you do?
with the tips of your long slender fingers
with your mouth, wet and tender,
between mahogany-brown thighs,
tangled in curls of shinny black onyx

I have know no other man
who loves as you do,

So,
bring to me your heavy head
with black obsidian, silken locs
like naked with me in the shadow of night,
there I shall love you
as only I can
