That's an excellent way to get started c0lin

As far as your questions go, alot of them should be aswered by following those tutorials

1. The box is made by selecting the marquee tool (hint: hold your curser over each tool in the toolbar for a moment, and the name will popup) then click and hold down the mouse buttun while dragging it across the canvas to make a box. Holding the shift key while doing this will keep your selection in perspective. When you have a selection (i.e. marching ants) select the gradient tool and click and hold the mouse button and drag it across your selection to fill it with a gradient.

2. Layers are like separate canvases that stack on top of one another. This allows you to keep the original image and add other elements to it without messing it up. When you're working on a file and you have more than one layer, you must save the file in the native photoshop file format (.psd) or all the layers will be lost.

3. The grid allows you to use the selection tools and place elements more precisely.

Stick with the tuts and you'll be surprised at what you learn

Patience will be the key here if you really get interested in it c0lin

I've been at it since '96 and I'm still learning stuff

Very good explanation, DC!

One tip I'd like to pass along is to use the layers freely. Rather than experiment with a layer you have almost the way you want it, you can duplicate that layer to try an effect on it. Right click on the layer and choose duplicate layer. This makes a copy of the layer you can try things on. This way if you screw it up you can delete it. If you like it, you can delete the original layer.

I use Adobe Photoshop Elements most of the time. I find it very easy to use, and it does a lot of the things PhotoShop does, they just kinda boil down the effects, you don't have the infitessimal control you do in PS, but it is a very good place to learn.

The more you noodle around the more you learn. It has been said that nobody really knows everything that Photoshop can do. There are just too many possible combinations.

Exclamation My Dreams

I want to be a teacher when I listen to my teacher carefully. I think I can be a teacher when I grow up. I can help many students learn things well. I can play with my students, too. So we are good friends. I want to be a doctor when I see many doctors save their patients. To be a doctor is really great. I think I can be a doctor when I grow up. Then I can help many people out of danger. I will be the happiest girl in the world. I want to be a reporter when I watch TV every evening. We can get lots of important information from them. They make the world smaller and also make us happy. I would like to be a reporter when I grow up. And I can learn a lot about China and the other countries around the world. I can meet many superstars as well. I have lots of dreams. I think my dreams can come true one day, because there’s an old saying “where there is a will, there is a way.” ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Welcome to our wow power leveling site:buy wow power leveling and free world of warcraft power leveling, buy world of warcraft gold, wow gold, cheap world of warcraft powerleveling.LWB
