assigning keys on keyboard
Hi all,
my girlfriend gave me a keyboard she got from a Compaq PC (cause mine looks like a pizza box),and it has some extra keys (volume, printer, cd player control, etc) so my questions is: is there any way to make those keys work on my pc, cause obviosly they dont work with only pluging the keyboard,so are there a program, driver or anything else that could make that?. Thanks! |

Those special keyboards some with certain software that enable them to work. What you need to do is first find out what company created the keyboard.. find out which PC your girlfriend had from that company and then find the drivers for the keyboard software from the vendors site. Such as www.hp.com or www.dell.com.
Once you find the software/drivers to run the keyboard they should be operational on your PC. The only thing that would create a problem of course would be if the keyboard required certain hardware to work properly. But its worth a try! Let us know if you find the info on the keyboard..we'll see if we can help you find the drivers.

Very true. haha.. The reason the model number of the PC is important to find is that you can look up that PC's entire package of drivers and make surey ou get the exact drivers that were shipped with that PC in the first place.
I have not searched for just a device on HP's site very often.. but every time I do I usually hit a dead end without the model number of the original PC. Hope you can find it.. if you can get me thet model number of the PC I will poke around for you
